When you think of London, images of historical grandeur and modern sophistication come to mind. But it’s not often that a place embodies both as seamlessly as Raffles London. Recently, I had the chance to experience this stunning new hotel, part of the prestigious Accor group, and I must say, my expectations were not only met—they were completely surpassed.
Hidden behind private gates, Raffles London welcomes you into a courtyard that could easily be mistaken for a regal palace entrance. Imposing architectural details—pristine stonework, grand arches, and impeccably manicured surroundings—signal from the very beginning that this is no ordinary hotel. The courtyard itself is home to three of the hotel’s nine restaurants, including Paper Moon, where I had the pleasure of dining during my stay. But more on that later.
An Elegant Welcome
From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the service at Raffles London is as refined as its architecture. Instead of entering through the general lobby, I was guided to a private foyer, specially designed for guest check-ins, which felt like a luxury all its own. The grand entrance with its sweeping staircase, though undeniably breathtaking, is reserved for other visitors, while guests are ushered into an intimate, exclusive space where every detail feels tailored just for you.
The Executive Room
After a warm welcome, I was thrilled to find that my Executive room was ready and waiting. The journey to the room felt almost like stepping into a different time. I was led through the hotel via a stunningly preserved elevator, down corridors adorned with subtle yet elegant detailing, and finally into my room—a serene, luxurious space that struck the perfect balance between modern design and classic comfort.
The Executive room was everything I could have hoped for. Clean lines, custom furnishings, and neutral tones made for a serene environment. The room had an effortlessly luxurious feel, with its intelligently designed closet system that housed both the minibar and a coffee maker, ensuring that everything was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The bed was, of course, supremely comfortable, with plush linens that invited relaxation. One of the standout features of the room was the view: my window overlooked the courtyard, a charming, peaceful sight that made me feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of London.
From the stunning architecture and beautifully appointed rooms to the exceptional dining and serene spa, it’s a destination that offers much more than a place to sleep.
Bathroom Bliss
But it was the bathroom that truly caught my attention. Spacious and fitted with high-quality hardware, it featured double sinks, a generously sized stand-up shower, and a separate soaking tub—a must for any traveler seeking moments of quiet indulgence. The fixtures and finishes were all thoughtfully curated, from the soft lighting to the luxurious towel warmers. It’s the kind of bathroom that makes you feel as if you’re in a personal spa rather than a hotel. I particularly loved the small, yet thoughtful, touches such as the shaving kit and plush loofah, not to mention the thick, cloud-like robes provided for each guest. They were the perfect addition to a peaceful morning or a relaxing evening after a day of exploring the city.
Luxurious pool & spa
One of the highlights of my stay was Raffles London’s pool and spa, a sanctuary that you simply cannot miss if you ever find yourself staying here. Located underground, the pool is designed to evoke the feeling of a Roman bath—complete with towering pillars and arches that create an atmosphere of secluded elegance. It’s the kind of space where you can easily lose track of time, enveloped in tranquility. The pool area also features a fireplace, which adds an unexpected yet delightful touch of coziness, more akin to a luxury chalet in Switzerland than a hotel in central London. The dry sauna and steam room, both generously sized and beautifully designed, were equally impressive, providing the perfect spaces to decompress. For those seeking relaxation, this spa is a hidden gem and should be at the top of your to-do list.

Gorgeous and thoughtfully appointed vanities
Of course, a stay at Raffles London wouldn’t be complete without indulging in its culinary offerings. With nine restaurants to choose from, there’s something for every palate. For dinner, I opted for Paper Moon, a Milanese-style restaurant located in the courtyard. Accessible both from the street and the serene courtyard, Paper Moon offered the ideal setting for an evening of culinary delight. The restaurant’s ambiance was unparalleled. Around 7:30, the lights dimmed, creating an intimate, candle-lit atmosphere perfect for special occasions or simply enjoying a quiet evening out. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, planning a romantic date night, or just catching up with friends after a long day, Paper Moon offers a setting that feels both luxurious and welcoming.
The menu at Paper Moon is a tribute to classic Milanese cuisine, and my dinner was no exception. I started with the Filetto Di Manzo, a perfectly prepared filet mignon served with mashed potatoes and a grilled peppercorn sauce that initially appeared like a creamy cheese but was, in fact, an elegant reduction that brought a unique balance of flavors to the dish. Each bite was expertly crafted, and the combination of textures and flavors was nothing short of exceptional. For dessert, I chose the traditional canolis, which were a true revelation. These canolis were unlike any I’ve had before—partially dipped in chocolate and pistachio, filled with homemade cream, and artfully presented. Every bite was a delightful mix of sweetness and texture, the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the plate has been cleared.
A Note about Afternoon Tea
While my experience at Paper Moon was certainly a highlight, I couldn’t overlook the hotel’s renowned afternoon tea service, which I’d reserved in advance. Although I’ll be diving into the full details of that experience in a separate post, I can already say that it was an unforgettable afternoon spent in elegance.
Beyond the amenities and dining, what truly sets Raffles London apart is the staff. Every interaction felt personal, attentive, and thoughtful, from the moment I checked in until I departed. Whether I needed help with reservations, recommendations, or simply a warm greeting on my way out the door, the team made me feel as though I were the only guest in the hotel—a remarkable feat for a property of this size and stature.
On the Whole
In the end, my stay at Raffles London was an experience that I won’t soon forget. From the stunning architecture and beautifully appointed rooms to the exceptional dining and serene spa, it’s a destination that offers much more than a place to sleep. It’s a retreat, a refuge, and a luxury experience all rolled into one. Without a doubt, Raffles London has earned its place as my new go-to hotel in the city, and I look forward to returning soon.
